1. Heat oven to 475°F and insert rack into bottom of oven.
2. Put pork leg in large roasting pan, with the skin side up.
3. Roast pork leg for 45 minutes, then lower oven temperature to 350°F, and continue roasting until pork meat is 145°F.
4. During last hour of roasting, check temperature intermittently, about every 15 minutes.
5. Let rest at least 1 hour before serving.
