Bacon all’Amatriciana

Introducing the 6th love language: BACON! Keep your romance sizzling with this delicious recipe starring FARMER JOHN® Mild Jalapeño Bacon.

  • 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 8 oz. chopped FARMER JOHN® Mild Jalapeño Premium Bacon
  • 3/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 minced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 28-oz. can peeled tomatoes, crushed
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 1b Bucatini
  • 1/3 cup shaved Pecorino
  • 1 small bunch basil, leaves torn


Heat large skillet over medium skillet and add oil. Add bacon and sauté until crisp, about 3 1/2 minutes.

Add onion, and sauté until translucent about 4 minutes. Add garlic, red pepper flakes and tomato paste and stir until combined. Cook for two minutes, constantly stirring. Add tomatoes, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile bring 5 quarts of water to boil in a large pot and add 3 tablespoons of kosher salt.

Cook pasta in boiling water according to package directions.

Drain pasta and add to the sauce, simmering together for 2 minutes until the pasta is evenly coated with sauce.

Place in serving dishes and top with Pecorino cheese and torn basil.
