2 racks Farmer John California Natural St. Louis Style Spare Ribs 

  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, finely ground
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

 

Bourbon BBQ Sauce

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 2/3 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid hickory smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  1. Heat oven to 350oF. Combine first 5 ingredients in bowl (excluding ribs). Spread both sides of ribs with honey mustard. Lightly press pecan mixture onto bone side of ribs; place on aluminum foil-lined baking sheet, bone side down. Press remaining pecan mixture onto meaty side of ribs.
  2. Bake at 350oF. for 1 1/2 hours.
  3. To make Bourbon BBQ Sauce, combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes, stirring frequently. (Tip: Or use store-bought bourbon or whiskey based barbecue sauce.)
  4. After 1 1/2 hours, ladle Bourbon BBQ Sauce onto top of ribs in oven. Roast an additional 30 minutes. Serve with remaining sauce.
