Pork Tacos

Tangy avocado salsa and juicy FARMER JOHN® Extra Lean Ground Pork (made fragrant with a hint of cinnamon) take pork tacos beyond delicious. Double the recipe and you’ve got a meal sure to wow a crowd.

Cook Time: 17-20 min

Servings: 12-14 Tacos


Taco meat:
  • 3 tbs. olive oil (or canola oil)
  • 2 lbs. FARMER JOHN® Extra Lean Ground Pork
  • 1 cup HERDEZ® Salsa
2 1/2 tbs. oregano, dried
  • 2 tbs. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tbs. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 12-14 flour tortillas
  • Cotjia cheese, crumbled for garnish
Avocado salsa:
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and chopped
  • 1 orange bell pepper, cored, seeded and chopped
  • 3/4 cup HERDEZ® Salsa
  • 2 avocados, barely ripe, cubed
  • 2 tbs. lime juice
  • 1 1/2 tbs. agave (or honey)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp. chili flakes (to taste)


Preheat oven to 300. In frying pan, heat oil over medium heat for about 1 minute. Add chopped bell peppers and cook for 2 minutes. Add HERDEZ® Salsa, avocado, lime juice, agave, salt and chili flakes. Sauté for 3-4 minutes. Do not overcook, or avocado will become too soft. Turn off heat and cover pan with lid.

In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat for about 1 minute. Add FARMER JOHN® Ground Pork and cook, breaking meat up with spatula, for about 2 minutes.  Add HERDEZ® Salsa, oregano, Worcestershire Sauce, onion powder, paprika, and cinnamon. Combine all ingredients with spatula and continue to cook 6-8 minutes.

While meat cooks, place the tortillas on 2 baking sheets and warm in the oven for about 5 minutes.

To serve, top each tortilla with meat and warm avocado salsa, then sprinkle with Cotjia cheese.

Serve immediately and watch your family rave!
